Upon arrival, the President was welcomed by Chief Executive Officer and Chief Development Officer, Mr Kert Evert, along with Chief Technology Officer, Mr Toomas Kell.

The President was then given a presentation about the Centre by the Founder of GDC, Mr Üllar Jaaksoo. During the presentation Mr Jaaksoo highlighted that the aim of the Centre is to provide an advisory role to co-create a digital future with its partners, where everyone is connected through digitalization. Following this, the President received a tour of the facilities and was briefed on its energy efficient operations and storing data.

Established in 2020, GDC is the largest data centre in the Baltic region. The facility employs advanced AI-driven security systems and surveillance. With a strong focus on sustainability, the Centre utilizes renewable energy and implements waste heat recycling for optimal energy efficiency. It supports sustainable digital transformation in the region, and with a goal of connecting islands through digitalization, which are reliable, efficient, sustainable and customer-focused.

Tartu City is the second largest city in Estonia, and Tartu Town Hall serves as the primary area for both trade and settlement. During the visit to the City, the President will visit the University of Tartu, Estonian Biobank, and the Estonian National Museum (ERM)

During the visit, the Maldives delegation was given a presentation on Estonia's digital transformation journey. Additionally, the President and delegation were given a presentation on Estonia’s digital society and e-governance innovations, and Estonia’s success in integrating digital systems such as e-residency, digital ID, e-taxation, and secure data exchange through X-Road systems.

The Presidents then took a commemorative photo following which President Dr Muizzu signed the Visitor's Book at the Palace.
